Easter Hams 2011

It was a miracle Garrett wore this tie all day! He liked it as much as Randy liked HIS tie!

Charlotte, on the other hand, was all about the dress-up!

Outside of the fact that I put 2 different socks on Charlotte, everyone looked their best!

Daddy's Sweeties!

Hunting eggs!

This was Garrett and Charlotte's first chocolate bunny! They've been so deprived! (And no, I did not let them eat the whole thing!)

Fat Day

Garrett: Mom, when is Fat Day?

Me: You mean Fat Tuesday?

Garrett: Yeah, Fat Tuesday.

Me: That was in March.

Garrett: Oh, man! I forgot to wear my glasses!

Happy Belated Fat Day!

Spring Photos!

Its been awhile since I tried to drum up photography business on my blog, but its that time of year again!

I couldn't resist doing a mini photo shoot of the kiddos this week in their new duds for school pictures, especially since Garrett was "uncooperative" for his photos at school!

I've been scoping out some new outdoor locations for photo shoots!

I'd love to take some cute pics of your family, too!

Fort Knox

I've begun gardening this year again. I've learned much from last year's attempts and feel I am going into this gig much wiser than before. I've decided to do a lot of container gardening, with hopes of curtailing weeds and having to do less clearing of land. Here are some White Half Runners in progress.

We have lots of potatoes and cucumbers going, as well.

Are you wondering yet what those mysterious contraptions are atop of the containers? They are not anything fancy, just some chicken wire. The truth is: we have serious squirrel problems. Squirrels and birds, really; but the squirrels make me want to fumigate the trees and destroy them all! They are disguised as furry critters, but in reality, are hairy varmints in close relation with rats. Last year, I enclosed the entire garden with chicken wire, which made it difficult to pull out the weeds. Also, the birds and squirrles somehow managed to get UNDER it and get trapped! This year I've created a bit of a Fort Knox in my back yard!

More red potatoes and Crooked-Neck squash beginning to grow...taunting those nasty squirrels!

I planted these pumpkins Saturday afternoon, and by Sunday morning (before I could get my chicken wire in place) the squirrels had begun to dig it up!

Here, my Papa's deer stands on sentry duty watching over our watermelons (which the squirrels have already dug up once!)

You may think this is funny, but I'm beginning to feel a little like Bill Murray in Caddyshack! All I need is some "fire power and superior intelligence! And that's all she wrote!" (Love that movie!)

A Memorial For Jesus

A Jehovah's Witness came to my door Monday and handed me some literature and invited me to a "memorial service for Jesus."

He told me they were honoring His death with a "talk" and memorial time. I was dying to say something, but he didn't let me get a word in. He kept talking about "Jesus' death" and "honoring his memory," in this very sad tone with a solemn expression.

After he left, of course, I wished I would have said to him,

"Didn't you hear? He's alive! He rose 3 days later! He defeated death so that you and I might live!"

"The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying."

Showing My Age

We went to Kroger today and as we were checking out a gal next to us (who I presumed to be about 25 years old) starts up a conversation that went like this:

Her: "You don't look old enough to have 2 kids."
Me: "Please, I'll be 30 next month."
Her: "30? Wow, I hope I look that good when I'm your age!"

OUCH!

I was really feeling OK about turning 30 this year until then.

Since when is 30 "your age"?
