Poppy's Birthday Weekend

This weekend we celebrated Poppy's birthday--complete with cake and pumpkin carving! Yes, unusual! But when your babies go to bed at 7:00 and Poppy is only in town a few nights a week--you squeeze a lot of stuff into an evening!
This was the first year that Garrett carved a pumpkin. As you can see, he was totally impressed!

Growing up, Poppy put his own spin on each holiday. For instance, Easter egg coloring was not complete without one brown egg, carefully dipped into each smelly bowl of vinegar, resulting in a poopy-brown egg. Halloween is no exception. He has always taken the left-over cuttings from the pumpkin and made them into ears for the pumpkin.

Happy Birthday, Poppy! We love you!
