Happy Birthday to us!

Just having gotten home from vacation, I missed a post on Charlotte's birthday (which is also my birthday!) Here's a little trip down memory lane:
Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday that my water broke at Carrabba's in Cool Springs (don't sit in that booth in the back) and we rushed off to me this little sweetie!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

Randy's MBA Graduation Storyboard

Monday, May 11, 2009

We are proud of you, Daddy!

This weekend, Randy graduated with his MBA. We celebrated with fun, food, friends and family. We had more homemade tortillas and taco fillers than one could imagine! The kids got to jump in the "Jumper" as Garrett calls it, courtesy of Poppy!

I am so proud of you, Randy! You've carried out the best juggling act I've ever seen! You've shown our kids that hard work pays off!

When is the last time Jesus called you on the phone?

Yesterday, after I got off the phone with my mom, Garrett said to me, "Was that Jesus?"

My first response was laughter with, "No, Buddy, that was not Jesus. That was Nana."

The more I thought about it, though, I realized that to Garrett it would have been perfectly normal for Jesus to call him on the phone.

It left me thinking, "When was the last time I fully expected Jesus to show up?"

Yeah, I know, we all pray that He will show up when we're sitting in the ER with our sick babies or in the middle of the night when their fevers shoot up to over 105 degrees. We pray when our grandmother is headed to the surgeon who has potentially bad news about her colon. We pray about silly things like for our wet cameras to dry out. But when was the last time you REALLY expected Jesus to show up? To the point that you anticipate hearing His voice?

That is the thought for the day!

Hall-e-lu-jah! Hall-e-lu-jah!

The old girl is back!

My Nikon D40, aka child #3 (maybe I'll start calling her Nikki), is up and running (for now). Just in time for Randy's graduation, our vacation, and Charlotte's birthday.
Randy thinks I love that camera more than I love him. Nonsense! I don't take it everywhere I go, or use it every single day, or know where it is at all times, or have withdrawls if it is out of commission.
Oh, wait, yes I do.

I'm sure I will bore you later with pictures that I have taken.

I'm such an addict! Since she's been down, I had to borrow my mom's Nikon to fill the gap. I mean, its not everyday you can take pictures of your baby donning a hospital gown and bracelet!

Roller Coaster Weekend

Friday, I experienced a huge loss.

A dear friend is on the brink of eternity.

My Nikon D40 got wet.

And while I've been wanting to upgrade, I did not wish for her death.

She is currently sitting in a Ziploc bag with some sort of drying agent. Last night, I turned her on, and had a glimmer of hope before she quit again.

We will continue the vigil for her full recovery (unless I can talk Randy into a D90--then we'll put her out of her misery!)

Onto more news...

With all the rain, we had a flooded basement (about a foot of water, according to Randy) complete with all Randy's power tools and weed eater under water. Apparently the water was millimeters away from the hot water heater's pilot light and certain death.

What is miraculous is that although our homeowner's insurance would not cover ANY of it, all power tools in question started right up after drying out!

Still more...

Saturday evening, after our 5 week long ordeal with sick Charlotte, her fever came back with a vengence. So, we ended up spending 5 hours at the Vandy ER with 104.1 fever.

New diagnosis: Double ear infection

On a good note, we had a nice morning Saturday at the park, Randy got to play golf with his new clubs, Garrett got to spend the night with Nana and Poppy, and Charlotte is on the mend.
